Day 61 - Isle of Skye

Well a fine day in skye - although rather cool at times. Target to drive around most of the island today. But first to Portree - no money you see -wonderful machines in a wall though! Found a couple of markets to visit - nice small village - imagine it gets very busy in holidays.

Then headed off - fantastic scenery everywhere you looked.
First we made the compulsory visit to a Whisky Distellery (only one on Skye)got  a tour. Unfortunately whisky is not our favourite so left the bottles behind!!! Did see this native down the road though!!
After that a huge lunch in an inn down the road. Then off again. Most of the roads were okay but a lot were single lane with a passing spot about every 150 - 200 metres. The land is obvioulsy a bit boggy in place and can slip so quite a few of the roads were bumpy and uneven - as a result travel time was quite slow - but great scenery and heaps of places to pull off and look.

We also had the compulsory castle stop (Dunvegan) - they unfortunately had canvas over a good chunk of it so cheated with a photo!!

But they did have nice gardens which we strolled around.

Then onto more little villages although generally there were just houses dotted around (mostly white) and fairly spread out - and every second house seemed to be a B&B.

We did see one lot of fantastic falls that drop diretly over the cliffs into the sea - very dramatic as well as huge cliffs (but very cold and windy)

Also a number of cattle stops every so often and we did see some more of the natives close up!

Tea at Portree again now home relaxing in our B&B. Tomorrow heading south - hotel I booked is in middle of no where and has no internet so you will have to wait for an update the following day.

All going well although getting somewhat travel weary but guess there will be no sympathy from anyone!!
