Day 62 - Skye to Tyndrum

Weather cloudy and quite windy when we left. Nice breakfast from our B&B then on to the bottom of skye. Travelled down to Broadford and looked at jewellery and then on Wilson’s recommendation took an excursion to Ord – very narrow road, steep hills20% and lots of blind corners and hills. Fortunately lots of passing places and used 1st and 2nd gear quite a lot. An interesting road that is for real!

Then caught ferry from Armedale to Mailiag. Cost 28 pounds – more than tourist book said (12). Although windy a very smooth crossing – about 20 minutes. Then on to Fort William – looked at locks dropping into Lock Lennhe. Had lunch in a cafe(doesn’t need any describing!!!)
Then down the loch – very windy,  saw one wind surfer! Turned at Ballachulish and headed upwards. This was the best part of the Scottish highlands we have seen –this was stunning pass. Terrific scenery – very high mountains and stunning valleys.

At the top (1400) there was a long moorlands – a bit like desert road. But could see for miles.

This was stunning all the way up and over – not to be missed.
Dropped into Tyndrum – a small junction village but good shops. Stayed at the local lodge – nice room (got upgraded – yeah) and had a very nice dinner(Salmon).  This place would be heaven for our tramper friends!!!

Back to England tomorrow!
